Skiing in Lofoten
– Local favourites

There are short distances from Svinøya Rorbuer to the best mountains east of Lofoten. Within 30 minutes drive we find countless classic ski peaks from 600 to over 1100 meters above sea level.

The feeling of standing on top, looking straight down into the crystal clear sea, and setting downhill in beautiful powder snow, just has to be experienced.

Some of our favorites in random order:

• Torskmannen (755 m) Starting point / Parking: At Kvitforsen power station in Vestpollen. Duration: about 2.5 hours. Many great opportunities. Combines nicely with Breitinden.

• Småtindan (Varden) (662 m) Starting point / Parking: Solbakken outside Kabelvåg. Duration: about 2.5 hours. Several alternative slopes.

• Rundtinden (Rundfjellet) (803 m) Starting point / Parking: 1) Vatterfjorden 2) Vestpolleidet. Duration: about 4 hours. Alternative routes both up and down. Beautiful and varied ski mountain.

• Pilan (828 m) Starting point / Parking: Just before Laupstad. Duration: about 3 hours. Can be nicely combined with Sautind.

• Kvittinden (696 m) Starting point / Parking: Just before Laupstad. Duration: about 3 hours.

• Geitgaljartinden (1085 m) For experienced skiers. Considered Lofoten's roughest summit experience. Starting point / Parking: The shop on Liland near Laupstad. Duration: about 6 hours.

Many of the tours are entirely possible to do on your own, but we recommend always hiring a certified local guide. This provides increased security and greater joy of ski touring.

Our partner on ski guiding will ensure safe trips, and that you get the most out of the ski days. On Svinøya in Svolvær you live very comfortably in beautiful rorbussuites. Several of the rorbussuites have a private sauna.
